Caring for your Fresh Flowers

Business Is Blooming guarantees that our bouquets will look beautiful all business-week long, provided you add water throughout the week.

Show your flowers some special care.

  • Add water to the vase, every day if possible. For even longer lasting arrangements, recut the stems and change the water every 4-5 days. Just grasp your bouquet above the rim of the vase and lift it out. Clean the vase and fill with fresh water and flower food if desired. Use sharp pruners or scissors to trim the stem ends, then drop back into the vase.
  • Keep flowers away from heat and light. Flowers like cold (down to 36° F except for orchids and other tropicals). But they don't like heat or direct sunlight, which will dry them out quickly. Display them away from windows, heating vents, and computer equipment. No need to refrigerate, as food refrigerators cool with dry air, and flowers like wet air (90% humidity is their favorite!).
  • Keep flowers away from ethylene gas. Ripening fruit naturally emits ethylene gas, and when flowers are exposed, it shortens their vase life. Dropping petals indicate ethylene exposure, perhaps from a bowl of fruit on the kitchen counter, cigarette smoke, or exhaust from a car.

Enjoy your beautiful flowers!
